We are looking for an experienced Weekend Shop Manager to join our weekend team. Someone who has worked preferably within the Timber/DIY sector. The shop is in its 2nd year of trading and is developing very quickly. You will need to be able to identify new areas of trade and help add to the business
NWR is a not-for-profit organisation set up to rescue wood from the waste stream and get it out to people who can reuse it. We also offer work experience and training opportunities to those finding it hard to find work. Our shop is a vital part of our ability to recycle and re-use what we collect. Our collections service feed useful timber into the shop where we can sell it to the public. It’s our mission to rescue as much timber as possible and retail it, keeping it out of the waste stream.
Our shop has gained a reputation for friendly and helpful service with a loyal customer base coming back time and again. Our reviews are outstanding and we are looking for someone to build on this. The shop is experiencing incredible growth with around 70% of our customer being first time visitors. During COVID we are operating an appointment only system which limits visitor to 1 at a time. Bookings currently have a 6 day waiting list.
We are increasing our hours to keep up with demand and want someone to help cover Saturday to Sunday.
Saturday 8.45am to 5.15pm
Sunday 9.45am to 4.15pm
Additional hours may be available during the week
We are looking for an experienced Weekend Shop Manager to join our expanding business. Someone who has worked preferably within the Timber/DIY sector. Someone who can offer friendly help and guidance to our customers. It's a varied role so you will need to be versatile. You will be responsible for the weekend running of the shop.
The role includes but not limited to;
Ensuring the shop is open and ready to accept customers
Responding to Social media, phones & emails
Pricing of timber as it comes in from collections
Managing the appointments
Helping customers with their orders
Communicating with collection teams to ensure the right timber is coming back to store
Be able to use basic tools
Keeping to shop clean, tidy and well stocked
Answer phone queries from customers
Applicants may be required to work on their own or with other staff/volunteers
Manage stock levels of ancillary products
Take orders face to face, over the phone or via email/social media
Preparing of timber for sale which can include de-nailing, cutting/sawing, pallet breaking
Shop management experience
Good general maths and english
Able to use till/POS
Able to use social media, email
Ability to work alone or in a team
Friendly, helpful approach
Can do attitude
Trustworthy & reliable
Knowledge of timber/wood
Interest in Recycling

We will offer a range of training in all aspect of recycling. Training includes the following areas;
In addition we will also fund training for the CSCS card which allows the holder to legally work on construction sites. We will also supply all the relevant PPE and literature needed.
