As one of our Recycling Operatives that’s exactly what you would be doing. NWR is a social enterprise set up to help the environment, create jobs and volunteering opportunities for local people by collecting, reusing and recycling waste timber from the building industry. 

To help us deal with the increase in the demand for our services we wish to recruit a self-motivated, hard-working and reliable Recycling Operative to join our small team.

As a small enterprise, we all need to be versatile and be prepared to share in a multitude of tasks, but the work involves a good deal of manual labour and will predominantly be to collect timber from a range of locations around Northants, Beds, Milton Keynes areas in a 3.5 tonne (transit-size) tipper truck.

Our recycling operative's need to have an understanding of wood. We need someone who can recognise when timber needs to come into our shop or go for chipping. Someone who can go above and beyond. This isn't a driving job. It's much more.

Although not a comprehensive list, activities will include:· 

• Driving to clients sites and hand loading our vehicles
• Responsible for carrying out basic vehicle checks each shift·
• Organise, manage, supervise and support volunteers assigned for the day· 
• Making daily collections of timber/other recyclables from building sites and other organisations· 
• Using hand and some power tools· 
• Dealing with customers and working effectively with (and potentially supervising) volunteers and other staff members· 
• Helping us to provide a high standard of service to all our customers· 
• Ensuring that Health & Safety standards are maintained· 
• Help with the shop, restocking, processing wood

 Essential requirements:· 

• Full, Clean Driving licence and relevant licence required for driving 3.5t vehicle·
• Fit, enthusiastic and self-motivated with a positive and versatile attitude· 
• Competent with hand tools· 
• Ability to manage daily workload
• Be able to use technology such as tablets
• Must have CSCS card or be able to complete the training and tests. We will pay for the training & card (subject to terms)

• Some experience of the building trade or site work· 
• Some experience with power tools· 
• Health and Safety aware with the ability to follow company procedures· 
• An interest in environmental and social issues. 
• On-the-job training will be provided and the role will provide the right person with a great opportunity to make a contribution to a more sustainable community and to develop a range of useful transferable skills.  

 40 hours a week initially with the chance for overtime
